Corporal Wendy Shughart is the lead Investigator in the Professional Standards Unit at Tampa International Airport Police Department. She is also a Crime Prevention Practitioner with a certification in Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design. Corporal Shughart consistently delivers a high level of timely and accurate background investigations and has added several successful crime prevention enhancements and outreach programs. She has demonstrated self-initiation, professionalism and constant high performance. Corporal Shughart stays connected with the Airport community through the Airport Watch program and numerous other events. She provides training for the airport community during all of the Airport Watch meetings and conducts security surveys throughout the airport community. She provides active shooter training to tenants and civilian employees of the airport. Corporal Shughart created online customer service and interest in training surveys for airport employees, tenants and airlines.
Corporal Shughart is part of the TIAPD Special Response Team, a Field Training Officer, and a lead high liability instructor.
Corporal Shughart is a military veteran, having served four years in the United States Air Force from 1997-2001. She began her career with the Tampa International Airport Police Department on February 8, 2004. Corporal Shughart has been with her wife Monique Barry for 10 years and together they have an eight-year-old daughter named Addison Capri.
