Hillsborough County Sheriff's Law Enforcement Deputy of the Year

Master Deputy Susan Shute began her career at the Sheriff’s Office in 1989 as a Deputy in District II Patrol.  She worked in District IV as a Community Resource Deputy for the Riverview Community for almost ten years. During her years as a Community Resource Deputy she served on the Board of Directors as the Vice President and President of the Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce. She was recognized by the Florida House of Representatives for her contributions to the community and awarded the Community Service Award at the Sheriff’s Office for her work with senior citizens in Riverview.

 Deputy Shute is married to Deputy Paul Shute and together they have one daughter, three sons and two grandsons.  Since 2006, she has worked in the Special Incident Management Section of the Sheriff’s Office as an Emergency Management planner, Special Event Coordinator, Regional Domestic Security Task Force representative, Preventative Radiological Nuclear Detection steering committee for the state, and a sub-committee member of Florida’s state working group for the Homeland Security grant funding process.   

Deputy Shute is very devoted to her job, her dedication was demonstrated when she assessed, developed and successfully implemented many operational plans for Super Bowl XLIII and related events throughout the county. These public safety initiatives contributed to the overall success of Super Bowl XLIII and provided optimum levels of safety and security for the citizens of Hillsborough County.
