Temple Terrace Fire Department Firefighter of the Year - Firefighter Scott Murley
Born in Brockton, Massachusetts, Scott
Murley studied jazz at Berklee College of Music and received his
bachelor’s degree in Music Education in 1992. When teaching music
didn’t pan out so well, he moved to Florida and enrolled in the State
fire college in 1993. He began his firefighting career at Pasco
County Fire Rescue in 1996 and in 1998 was hired at Temple Terrace Fire
Department.
Scott distinguished himself early as an easy going, hard working
professional. In 2005, Scott was promoted to the position of
Senior Paramedic. Serving as the lead paramedic on his rescue
truck, Scott played a direct and critical role in the high quality of
care that our patients received. His mild manner and
professionalism set the tone for everyone around him.
As our department transitioned from the position of “Senior Paramedic”
to “Engineer Paramedic,” Scott began to prepare himself for even
greater responsibility. In mid 2009, Scott was promoted to the
rank of Captain Paramedic. Scott established his leadership
presence on day one and leads his crew by example.
Scott and his wife of almost 17 years, Andrea, have two children, Craig
and Grace. In his free time, Scott plays and teaches guitar
regularly.
For selfless dedication and outstanding performance as a leader in the
Temple Terrace Fire Department, we are pleased to recognize
Captain Scott Murley as our Firefighter of the Year.
