Hillsborough County
Firefighter of the Year - Firefighter David Raasch
Firefighter
David Raasch became a member of Hillsborough County Fire Rescue in
March 1995. He was selected as firefighter of the year for Hillsborough
County Fire Rescue based on his unique dedication to programs that
benefit persons in need.
Firefighter
Raasch has taken an important role in the Sincerely Santa Program for
Hillsborough County. He continues to work tirelessly each
year soliciting gifts, identifying each child’s needs and delivering
them throughout Hillsborough County.
Also,
Firefighter Raasch has been instrumental is the effort to support
Hillsborough County Fire Rescue’s military deployed personnel.
David, along with other members of Hillsborough County Fire Rescue, has
arranged welcome home celebrations, maintenance days and media coverage
for our men and women serving in the military. This effort
ensures that no member of Hillsborough County Fire Rescue, serving in a
combat zone, returns to a home in need of repair, a family member in
need, or without fanfare.
In
addition to those programs, David has assisted in fund raisers for
victims of violence, arrange tours for severely handicapped children
and provide medical coverage for the Special Olympics. He has
also found the time, and I don’t know how, to go back to school and
successfully complete a 1 year paramedic program.
For these reasons and many more, Firefighter David Raasch is
Hillsborough County Fire Rescue’s Firefighter of The Year.
