University of South Floriday Police Department Officer of the
Year -
Detective Brian Pearson
Since joining the USF Police Department
Detective Pearson has gone above and beyond what is considered average
or acceptable by personnel standards. This work ethic is what
earned him a two-year detective assignment early in his career.
Det Pearson has been instrumental in developing a higher standard of
investigation through the use of current technology and
resourcefulness. He strives to cover all case possibilities
through the use of innovative tools, a close working relationship with
patrol in the sharing of information, community contacts, networking
with other law enforcement agencies and old fashioned Hard Work!
Det. Pearson maintains a high case load and has had many case closure
successes.
Det. Pearson is always willing to assist his supervisors and fellow
officers in any capacity needed. He has proved himself to be
readily available to the agency at a moments notice. Det. Pearson
has taken a lead role when working on Task Force initiatives with other
agencies. He assists with the planning, coordination and
implementation of these endeavors.
Det. Pearson is also a certified Rape Aggression Defense (RAD)
Instructor. Selections for these instructors are closely
monitored as they train and work with women who may be survivors of
past violence. It is with this continued commitment and
dedication to the community of the University of South Florida,
residents of Hillsborough county and fellow officers of the USF Police
Department that Detective Pearson was awarded the 2009 Officer of the
Year.
