Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office Detenton Deputy of the Year - Sergeant Stephen Farley

After graduating in 1981 from Mansfield Ohio’s Malabar High School, Sergeant Stephen D. Farley later enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1983 where he served 10 years as a Combat Arms Training and Maintenance Specialist.

After his service in the Air Force, Sergeant Farley began his career with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office as a Detention Deputy on October 18, 1994.  Sgt. Farley was originally assigned to Jail Division I and worked in General Population Housing with adult and juvenile inmates. In October of 1996, Sgt. Farley became a Field Training Officer and assisted in the training of new recruits. In July of 1998, Sgt. Farley was promoted to Detention Corporal where he was a supervisor of General Population and Confinement and Behavioral Observation Housing. Promoted to Detention Sergeant in December of 2002, Sgt. Farley was transferred to Jail Division II where he supervised General Population and the Medical Observation Housing. Since 2006, Sgt. Farley has served in the Transportation Bureau.
   
Sgt. Farley has been married to his wife of 17 years, Pamela, and together they have four children and a granddaughter who was born last December.
