Tampa Fire Rescue Firefighter of the Year - Captain Jose "JD" Bibiloni
Captain Jose “JD” Bibiloni is currently assigned to West Tampa Fire Station 9.
During
his nearly 29 years on the department Captain Bibiloni has contributed
to this profession in a wide variety of ways. He was a founding
member of the Awards Review Board and served as its treasurer. He
is a former member of the Executive Board of the firefighters union and
also served on the Fireman’s Benevolence Association.
On duty,
Captain Bibiloni contributed to the department by being a member of the
hazardous materials team; special operations crew; and as an Urban
Search and Rescue technician. In addition to being a trusted and
reliable truck company Captain he also has earned a certificate in
shipboard firefighting.
Captain
Bibiloni is making a lasting mark on the future of the department by
helping to train and mentor those just beginning their fire service
careers. He works as an instructor at the Tampa Fire Academy and
shares his knowledge and experiences with those who are just beginning
their fire service training and with those who have been newly hired
onto the department.
Captain
Bibiloni is a member of the department’s interview panel. This
panel screens applicants to the department and the panel then forwards
their recommendations to the Fire Chief.
Although Captain Jose Bibiloni is about one year from retiring, his
work ethic and dedication to this department and the City of Tampa is
unwavering.
For these reasons and many others we are grateful to have
Captain Jose Bibiloni as a member of Tampa Fire Rescue
and recognize him as a Tampa Firefighter of the Year.
