Mollie O’Brien recently graduated from Lennard High School in Ruskin, Florida, with a 6.8 grade point average. She attained her GPA by taking college courses and was Salutatorian of her class of 468 students.
Mollie enjoys writing plays for her theater club, going to National Honor Society meetings, participating in science competitions, and attending football games. Her positive behavior at sporting events swayed her classmates to give her the notable “Most School Spirit” award.
Mollie played sports her freshman and sophomore years. She was on the varsity swim team and JV Flag Football team. She used the teamwork learned through sports to focus on her school’s science team, which placed first in the county. Mollie earned more than half of the points through individual events for her team.
Mollie clearly loves learning. However, she also likes teaching. The majority of her 143 community service hours were earned by teaching other high school students advance theatre and improv techniques. Her passion for theatre is not only used for community service. Mollie has written three one act plays, one of which was produced and performed as a part of the afterschool theatre program. This is exceptional because only two plays moved on to the state level that year.
Mollie plans to go to Florida State University for a degree in political science, and then attending law school.
Both of her parents, Susan and Michael O’Brien, are Fire Fighters for Hillsborough County.
